Information
Before you begin a
project please read this information.
Dress:
· Wear
close fitting clothing appropriate for the activity being performed including: Short
sleeved or buttoned long sleeve shirts with shirttails tucked in and shoes
tied.
· Close-toed
shoes (no sandals).
· Confine
long hair before operating equipment.
· Wear
safety glasses at all times while in shop. Use hearing protection and
respiratory equipment when required.
· Remove
rings, necklaces and other jewelry when working.
· Do
not carry sharp tools in pockets.
Equipment and Tools:
· Obey
all safety rules and observe limitations on equipment according to
specifications, manufacturers requirements and instructors guidelines. Be
familiar with correct operation and adjustments of power tools. Never pry, hit
or force any tool adjustments. Report
any unusual noises, sounds or vibrations to instructor or studio manager.
· Use
the correct tool for the job.
· Keep
all tools sharp, clean and in safe working order. Properly store them when not
in use.
· Do
not distract others or let anyone distract you while operating a power tool.
· Assume
a safe comfortable position before using a power tool.
· Keep
feet, fingers and hair away from the blades and other moving parts of a power
tool. Do not operate a power tool if hands or feet are wet.
· Retain
all guards and safety devices on all equipment.
· Tag
and report any defective tools, machines or other equipment.
· Be
sure to shut off all power equipment when finished with it and never leave
equipment until it has stopped completely.
· Operate
equipment only after receiving instruction on how to operate safely and being
certified by the instructor.
· Disconnect
power from equipment before changing accessories.
· Service
and/or maintenance will be performed ONLY by Share Shop staff or instructor.
Please report any maintenance need to Share Shop staff or instructor.
· Clean
chips from saws and other equipment with a brush or stick, never your hand or a
rag. Do not clean equipment while it is running.
· Protect
all cutting edges.
Work Area:
· Arrange
equipment to permit safe, efficient work practices and ease of cleaning.
· Store
materials and supplies safely in their assigned locations.
· Store
tools and accessories safely in cabinets, on racks or in suitable storage areas.
· Keep
work area clear of debris and other hazards.
· Clean
shop after every session.
· Clean
floors of obstructions and slippery substances: clean up spills immediately.
· Keep
aisles, exits and traffic areas free of material and debris.
· Dispose
of combustible materials properly.
· Keep sufficient brooms, brushes, waste containers and other housekeeping equipment readily available.
